When COVID-19 shut everything down, including the recording of my album Ageing With Attitude,  only one track was fully complete. Fortunately, Go With You was a song that I had earmarked as a possible single, so I decided that I might as well release it in the hope of picking up some airplay during the lockdown.  That turned out to be a good decision, as it has been one of my most successful singles ever, second only to Christmas Eve in Dublin which topped the iTunes Singer-Songwriter charts in 2017.   I might have matched that on this occasion, but sadly for me, the superstar Gavin James released his new single on the same day and of course that sold in bucketloads, so I had to settle for No 2.  Needless to say, I was more than happy with that.

This single has also done very well with radio play.  It’s an uphill struggle for independent artistes to get airplay in Ireland, especially on the major stations.  However, quite a few prominent presenters fell in love with the retro feelgood vibe of the track and have not only played it but also given it repeat spins on a few occasions.

I’ve got a lot of compliments for the quirky video.  I like to do something very different with each video and this time I thought it would be nice to follow the storyline of the song through a whiteboard animation. The very gifted Ken Drakeford, who does all the graphic design for my albums, drew and animated the video and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.  Have a look here.
